Please join our Adult Learning Center (ALC) class which focused on Mandarin language conversation, specifically for adults 18 years & older! The program is a blend of in-person and virtual learning. The curriculum also includes cultural activities and basic writing/reading. Learning from cooking, tasting and playing.

2026-2027 School Year: Classes start August 2026 and end in June 2027 (Scheduled summer reviews for returning students from 6/26 to 8/14, new students welcome to sit in. All students need to pay their dues to get the Zoom meeting invites.)
10:30 AM – 2:30 PM: August 16, August 23, in person classes at 4H Center (we will be making delicious Taiwanese style snacks and learning to say them in Mandarin)
This center offering 4 levels and 3 sessions per week (2 online, 1 in person.) You can choose to attend all of them or just focus on one with teacher’s permission. You will be graded online (meeting time might be rearranged): (usually will be last up to an hour per on-line meeting)
- New Beginner and Novice Low Monday 6:30 – 7:15pm, Thursday: 6:30 – 7:15pm
- Novice Middle Wednesday 8:00 – 8:45pm, Friday: 8:00 – 8:45pm
- Novice High/Intermediate 1 Monday 8:00 – 8:45pm, Thursday: 8:00 – 8:45pm
In-person: Sunday @ Raritan Valley Community College 11:30am – 13:30pm

Regular class tuition: $480/school year, from August 16, 2026, to June 7(date might change), 2027
Books and materials are included.
Discount rewarded for the following conditions:

Culture classes included: Karaoke and chanting poem (Mandarin songs, poem); Middle-Autumn Festival celebration: The myth of the Moon Lady (legend story, Mandarin practice, moon cake, tea and other refreshment); New Year celebration in Taiwanese style; making and performing of Shadow puppets; Dragon boat Festival celebration; Tomb Sweeping Day event; Traditional painting and calligraphy practices; Traditional paper cutting and many others.

Levels: (1) New Beginner: Little or no prior knowledge of learning Mandarin Chinese
(2) Novice Low: Learned Mandarin Chinese before (need to take placement test)
(3) Novice Middle: Seasoned Mandarin Chinese learner (pass the intermediate-placement test)
(4) Novice High/Intermediate 1: Seasoned Mandarin Chinese learner (pass the advance-placement test)

Scholarships (only applied to regular class): Credit(s) applied for next year’s tuition and fees (except the “Study years” and “Senior discount”); can’t not be transferred.
(1) Passing TOCFL $10 (PT)
(2) Attending more than 22 (27 total) classes per year $10 (AT)
(3) Submit more than 90% works per term $20 (SA)
(4) Registered student that refer others and the person registered $25 (RF)
(5) Study years: $5 per year. (For example: $5 for the 2nd years, $10 for the 3rd year, $15 for the 4th years, $ 20 for the 5th year, $25 for the 6th year.) (applied for the current year) (SY)
(6) Senior discount: student 62+ will be honored $10 off (applied for the current year) (SD)
